The Joys of Cloth

When I first started cloth diapering I was using just plain flats and rubber pants. I hated it and didn't know any better. I used them in between disposables, and used cloth as little as possible. I had two babies in diapers when I finally made the change for good. It was a big job. So I love peoples excuse for not doing cloth is that it looks/sounds too hard. LOL! Being mom is hard. I love cloth diapering- as lots of people say, it is addicting. My girls are out of diapers now, and I hope to do cloth again soon!

So my diapers have come a long way. And I'm exited to be able to share them. They are easy to use and very adjustable.

Special Ordering

Different people have asked for special orders here and there and I just thought I'd share an example of my latest one. I have just finished making a swim diaper for a girl who is about ten, having special needs. This was at first challenging but it was fun.

Fleece Diaper Covers

Ive been wanting to make covers for awhile. My plan was to make wool ones. These are made of micro-fleece. They are like wool without all the special care that wool requires. Micro-fleece is a lot trimmer and a lot cheaper.

Wipe Cubes

I have recently teamed up with a local soap maker to develop a wipe cube solution for use with my cloth wipes. The Muddy Moose Bath Boutique of Stevensville, MT has made us a GREAT blend for Wipe Solution Cubes. Each package of cubes has more than 2.5 ounces of cubes in it, which should make about 45-50 cups of solution per bag.

What are wipe cubes? It is a solid cube, similar in form to soap, but also includes many other ingredients and oils to help condition the skin of a Little Bear Bum. They are easy to use also. Simply dissolve 1 cube per cup of water and pour over your cloth wipes. Voila! Ready-to-use cloth wipes.

Ingredients: Coconut Oil, Palm Oil, Safflower Oil, Glycerin (kosher of vegetable origin), Purified Water, Sodium Hydroxide (saponifying agent), Sorbitol (from berries, moisturizer), Sorbitan Oleate (emulsifier), Soybean protein (conditioner), Olive Oil (naturally contains Vitamin E and anti-oxidants), Apricot Kernel Oil (softening/moisturizer), Witch Hazel (skin toner/healing) and Grapefruit Seed Extract, or GSE (a natural preservative) and Fragrance Oil

Mama cloth pads

We started making cloth pads and liners for postpartum reasons. I think you'll agree, it starts getting old having to wear pads for 6 weeks after having a baby. We use them and love them! That's why we wanted to offer these to other women.

Our pads and liners are made with a bottom waterproof layer of PUL, super-absorbent microfiber inside, and topped with soft Tonitex Microfleece. The fleece does such a good job at wicking moisture away.
With proper care, these pads are stain-free. Simply rinse in cold water after use, using a natural lye soap bar or whichever kind you like, (Ivory works well too) rub onto pad and let it sit until washed. Dry normal.

The Overnight/Postpartum/Heavy pads have 2 layers of Microfiber inside and are 12.5''.
Regular pads have 2 layers as well and are 10.5'' and liners have only one layer of microfiber making them really thin. These ones are popular because it feels like they're not even there, yet they are still pretty absorbent.

Prefolds

I have been making and using cloth diapers for over a year now. We started out with the old flat prefolds (which suck) and eventually ended up ruining a couple dozen diapers before we came up with a set pattern. So now of course I sell them, Its been pretty fun. It gives me (a stay at home mom) a little hobby I guess.

Our hand dyed Indian Cotton fitteds are super adjustable and easy to use. We suggest using a snappi, pins of course work well. Some people use them inside out as well.

My diapers come in 2 sizes: Size 1 (fits from 7-15 lbs) and Size 2 (fits from 15-30 lbs). Our sizing is approximate. We have found that some 18 month old children can get a better fit with the smaller size, while some 12 month old babies do better in a larger size that has been folded down once.
